Partners
Account → Partners is both sides of a partner relationship: “earn on the companies you bring to PaySigna, and see the partner that brought you.”
Needs organisation.read to see and organisation.write to invite, answer, accept
a rate or end a link — owner and admin only. Everybody else sees “Only
owners and admins manage partners.”
What a partner link is
Section titled “What a partner link is”A partner is a company that brought another company — its client — to PaySigna: an agency that builds payment integrations, a platform that onboards businesses, a reseller. A partner link records that relationship between the two organisations, and is what a partner’s commission hangs on.
The link is between organisations, not single accounts, so it covers every account the client runs. It gives the partner no access to the client’s business:
| The partner sees | The partner never sees |
|---|---|
| The client’s name and account code | The client’s payments |
| The link’s status | The client’s customers |
| The commission rates on the link, and whether each applies | The client’s balances |
| What it has earned | Anything in the client’s portal |
If a partner’s developers are building the client’s integration, the client invites them to its own team as developers, from Your team. They switch into the client’s account from their own sign-in, the client can see them on its Team page, and the client removes them when the work is done. The partner link itself never grants that access.
The two kinds of commission
Section titled “The two kinds of commission”Every commission rate on a link says who pays it. This is the thing on this page worth reading twice.
| Kind | Who pays | Effect on the client |
|---|---|---|
| Added to the client’s fees | The client — it is the partner’s own fee, on top of PaySigna’s | It behaves exactly like PaySigna’s fee: if the client’s customers bear fees, they pay it on top; otherwise it comes out of what the client receives. Needs the client’s acceptance. |
| Paid by PaySigna (referral) | PaySigna, out of its own fee | Costs the client and its customers nothing. Nothing about the client’s payments changes. |
A referral share is a share of PaySigna’s fee or margin, never more than the whole of it. A fee added to the client’s pricing is a real extra cost, which is why it cannot apply until the client has agreed to it.
Rates are set by PaySigna, from the agreement between the partner and the client. Neither side can type a rate into this page. A partner asks us; we add the rate; the client accepts it if it adds to their fees.
Commission is earned on collections.
If you are the partner
Section titled “If you are the partner”Inviting a client
Section titled “Inviting a client”Invite a client — “a company you brought to PaySigna. They accept from their own Partners page; then PaySigna sets your commission from your agreement.”
| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Client’s account code | Yes | Any account code of their organisation. |
| Agreement reference | No | Your contract with the client. |
Refused when the code matches no open account, when you already have an open invitation or link with that organisation, or when the account is in your own organisation.
The client has to be on PaySigna already — they sign up and are verified on their own, and their organisation is entirely theirs. The invitation appears on their Partners page for an owner or admin to answer.
Clients you brought
Section titled “Clients you brought”“You never see their payments or customers.” One row per client, with its account code and status:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
invited |
Waiting for the client to answer. You can withdraw it with End. |
active |
The client accepted. Commission on the link can apply. |
declined |
The client said no. |
ended |
Either side ended it. |
Commission on an active row lists the rates on the link — the percentage and what it is a share of, any fixed amount, who pays it, and which of the client’s accounts it applies to. A rate added to the client’s fees shows awaiting client until they accept it, then applies. “No commission set yet” means we have not added your rates; ask us, quoting your agreement.
Earnings this month
Section titled “Earnings this month”“Commission credited to your accounts. It is paid out with each account’s settlements.” Commission is credited to your account’s balance when the client’s payment is released to them — at the same moment, by the same rule — and leaves in your normal settlements — there is nothing separate to withdraw or reconcile.
If you are the client
Section titled “If you are the client”Answering an invitation
Section titled “Answering an invitation”Partners that brought you — “Accept a partner to let them earn on your payments. Any rate that adds to what you or your customers pay applies only after you accept it.”
An invitation shows Accept and Decline. Accepting the link lets the partner earn referral commission, which costs you nothing. It does not agree to any fee on top of your pricing — each of those is accepted separately, rate by rate, below.
Accepting a rate
Section titled “Accepting a rate”Open Commission on the partner’s row. A rate that would be added to your fees shows Accept rate, and does nothing until you press it. Read it first:
- the percentage, and what it is a percentage of;
- any fixed amount per payment;
- which of your accounts it applies to.
Once accepted it applies to new payments on that account, and it appears in your
payments’ fees from then on — in the API as its own line, fee.commission, next
to PaySigna’s fee.platform. If your customers bear fees, it is added to what they
pay, in the same way as PaySigna’s fee.
Referral rates show applies without asking you, because they move nothing on your side.
Ending a link
Section titled “Ending a link”Either side can press End — “every commission on it stops applying to new payments at once. Commission already earned is still paid.”
Ending is immediate and cannot be undone from the portal. To work together again the partner sends a new invitation.
Refunds
Section titled “Refunds”When you refund a payment that carried a partner’s fee, the share of fees your customer paid — PaySigna’s and the partner’s — goes back to them in proportion to the refund. Commission the partner already earned is not taken back, the same as PaySigna’s own fee. See Refunds.
