Commission payouts
Money → Commissions is “money owed to referrers, agents and partners’ sales arms — people with no portal and no way to check this themselves.”
Two tabs, in the order of the work: What is owed, then Payout register.
Why this has its own page
Section titled “Why this has its own page”Pricing says what a commission rule promises — a share of a fee, of a margin, of an amount. This page is money leaving the platform to somebody who is not a merchant, and it belongs beside withdrawals, which is the only other screen where that happens.
What is owed
Section titled “What is owed”Shows Owed per beneficiary and the number of beneficiaries waiting, with an environment selector.
Opening a payout on a row shows:
| Fact | Notes |
|---|---|
| Unclaimed when you opened this | The figure as it stood when you looked. |
| Shares | How many commission shares are covered. |
| Environment | — |
| Period | “The window the due figure was counted over… so the payout claims exactly those shares.” |
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Amount | “The figure from the due list.” |
| Transfer fee | “Deducted from the beneficiary. Leave blank unless the commission rule says a fee comes off — the default is that it does not.” |
| Why this is being paid now | The audit log. |
The payout register
Section titled “The payout register”Filters on Status and Environment. A row shows the beneficiary, the destination and its type, the account state, whether it is verified, the owning merchant — “who owns the destination, not whose transactions earned the shares” — and the environment.
Check the destination is verified before approving. A commission paid to an unverified account is the one mistake on this page that cannot be recovered and that nobody else will report.
The four steps of a payout
Section titled “The four steps of a payout”1. Approve
Section titled “1. Approve”| Fact | Notes |
|---|---|
| Gross | — |
| Transfer fee | — |
| They receive | “Gross less the transfer fee.” |
| Shares covered | — |
| Period | — |
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Why this is being approved | “Goes in the audit log. The beneficiary cannot see this and will never query it, so it is for us.” |
2. Mark as sent
Section titled “2. Mark as sent”“The transfer has been initiated with the bank or the rail.”
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| How it was sent | “Name the channel and any reference the bank gave you. This is what somebody chasing a stuck transfer starts from.” |
3. Mark as settled
Section titled “3. Mark as settled”“The transfer has landed and a journal has discharged the liability.”
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Ledger journal | “The journal that recorded the money leaving. Search by its reference.” Type the journal’s reference and pick it from the matches (up to 20). |
| Our payout transaction | “Only if the transfer went through one of our own rails; search by its reference. Leave blank for a bank transfer made outside the platform, which is the usual case for a commission.” Searches the PaySigna reference (PSG…), the merchant’s reference or the partner’s. |
| How it was paid | “The record linking this payout to the money that left. Name the bank reference.” |
Each match shows its total, environment, posted time and description. Once you pick one, the dialog shows its Total, Environment, Posted time and Description so you can confirm you have the right one before committing.
The journal is checked against the payout. It must have debited this destination’s commission payable account by exactly the payout’s amount, or marking it settled is refused. One journal can settle only one payout.
4. Or fail it
Section titled “4. Or fail it”| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Do you know the money did not go? | An explicit confirmation. |
| What went wrong | “Stored on the payout and in the audit log. Name what the bank said, verbatim where you have it.” |
The first field exists because “the transfer is late” and “the transfer did not happen” are different facts. Failing a payout that actually went out creates a duplicate when somebody pays it again.
Working this page safely
Section titled “Working this page safely”- Read the due figure and the period it covers.
- Check the destination on the register: verified, and the right beneficiary.
- Open the payout for the figure you read, with a reason.
- Approve it — ideally not the same person who opened it, even though the platform does not force that here.
- Make the transfer, then mark as sent with the bank’s reference.
- Post the journal, then mark as settled with its id and timestamp.
- Never mark a payout settled on the assumption that the transfer worked. Check the bank first; nobody on the other end will tell you.
